Club Description:
Art Club works with AGW administration and teachers to beautify our school through creating personalized ceiling tiles, murals, sets/props for the school play, and projects unique to each school year. It also offers time and space for members to pursue their artistic goals individually. Unfortunately--due to space and supervision restrictions--Art Club is only open to 7th and 8th grade students. Art Club consists of up to 20 members. Meetings are held each Thursday from September18 - April 30.
Battle of the Books is a trivia competition team. The team reads a selection of books and answers questions based on the books. Our team then competes against the other middle schools within the county.
Cafe Book is a book club for 7th and 8th students. AGWMS collaborates with the public library to facilitate this club. Cafe book is first semester and ends with a field trip to the library.
Meet up with other students who are interested in playing chess for a fun and relatively stress-free opportunity to play against each other. All playing levels are encouraged to attend, and we may even get a tournament or two going this year!
The National Youth Cyber Education Program is STEM program of the Air & Space Forces Association. It was created to inspire K-12 students toward careers in cybersecurity or other science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines critical to our nation's future.
At the center of CyberPatriot is the National Youth Cyber Defense Competition, which puts teams of middle and high school students in the position of newly hired IT professionals tasked with managing the network of a small company. Through a series of online competition rounds, teams are given a set of virtual operating systems and are tasked with finding and fixing cybersecurity vulnerabilities while maintaining critical services.
Student leaders will lead a Bible study called a “huddle.” This is followed by discussion and prayer. There will be some meetings when we play games and have snacks.
We focus on Professional Video Production, editing and technical instruction related to Filming. We cover everything related from working on a real set, what is expected while on set to how to work a camera, different shooting angles and the appropriate time to employ different film techniques. NOTE: Next question of DATE may be invalid. Generally we meet on Tuesday's and we are not totally sure of our start date since the adults need to meet and chat about this year's going on's.
Do you have an opinion on everything? Do you like to learn about current events and other countries? Do you like debating on topics with friends? Model United Nations (MUN) is for you then! You'll learn about the United Nations, be assigned a country or person to research on a certain topic, and then problem solve with other students from Stafford County and beyond to attempt to solve the world's problems.
This club will be the selected team of about 12 students that will compete in the Dahlgren competition this fall. The competition will be on a Saturday. If Dahlgren decides to host the STEM triad again, this club will reconvene in the Spring and will participate in this as well.
This is a student honor society open to 8th graders only. Students must apply to join in the spring of their 7th grade year. The NJHS does various community services to include MICAH Lunches and Canstruction.
The AG Wright STEM Club gives students a fun, hands-on way to explore science, technology, engineering, and math. Members work on creative projects, build teamwork skills, and tackle real-world challenges—from coding and robotics to design and engineering builds. Open to all students, the club encourages curiosity, innovation, and problem-solving in a supportive, collaborative environment.
In the SCA (Student Cooperative Association) club, students take on a variety of leadership roles and engage in activities that benefit both the school and the wider community. Throughout the year, they organize fundraisers like "Boo Grams" for Halloween and concessions at sporting events to raise money for school projects and charitable causes. A major annual project is the Angel Tree program, where students collect gifts for families in need during the holiday season. The SCA also plans and executes school-wide events such as the annual variety show, providing a platform for students to showcase their talents. Additionally, members are involved in various school improvement projects, contributing to a positive and engaging school environment for everyone.
Trading Card Club, TCG Club for short, will be a weekly afterschool club that will focus on the trading card hobby for collectors and competitive players alike. We will be accommodating a variety of games that include, but not limited to, Pokemon, Magic : the Gathering, Yugioh, One Piece, Lorcana and more. Students will have opportunities to trade, play and learn the ins and outs of some of the most popular card games available today!
The Writer's Den is a creative space where students can write, share, and grow as writers. Students will also learn about real-world publication opportunities and how to submit their work professionally. They will receive guidance on editing, writing cover letters to editors, and understanding submission guidelines. With my support and parent/guardian permission, students may choose to submit their creative work to youth publishers and contests.
WTGR is AGW's internal closed-circuit "radio station." The student-led station crew is responsible for broadcasting our morning announcements. They form the base of our tech crews for other events throughout the school year as well.
